I really liked the article “How to Give Feedback Without SoundingLike a Jerk”. First of all, I was a big proponent of the compliment sandwich strategy.
I thought it was good to use because it starts and ends the conversation with
positives so the other party is more likely to focus on those. However, that is
when the article mentioned that if they focus mainly on the positives, they aren’t
as likely to take the negative feedback seriously. I really appreciate how Grant
broke down the stops to give proper feedback. In the “Try Feedforward Insteadof Feedback” article, I really appreciate how positive it is. It never occurred
to me to focus on improving the future instead of trying to address something
that has failed in the past.
Personally, I don't really like giving feedback because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings or make them feel like they are stupid. I will definitely keep these two articles in mind in the future.

Hey Bianca,
ReplyDeleteI am very glad that I came across your post on feedback strategies while visiting your blog, as you pointed out some important ideas that I might have missed. I loved reading the feedback without sounding like a jerk article. It was very helpful for me as well. Giving feedback has been a struggle for me too.
