Topic Research: Legendary Beasts

The topic that I am focusing on is legendary beasts. I relied heavily on information from Theoi.com (https://www.theoi.com/greek-mythology/bestiary.html) for this topic – thanks for suggesting the source, Laura! I am going to focus on the gryps, the Drakon Kholkikos, and the Drakon Ismenios. The Gryps (griffin) was a beast that was said to guard rich deposits of gold in the mountains of Scythia. The Drakon Kholkikos (Colchian Dragon) was a giant serpent that guarded the Golden Fleece in the sacred grove of Ares. The Drakon Ismenios (Ismenian dragon) was also a giant serpent that guarded the sacred spring of Ares near Thebes.

I think I am going to try to feature these beasts in three different episodes as obstacles that a hero has to overcome in order to retrieve three items for a certain reason. I am not yet sure what this reason will be, but it must be compelling in order to make the hero willing to attempt such a feat.

 Griffin. Source.
